Mississippi Trip
- Day 1
| Our
team split up into two groups -- Rich and John were brave enough to
drive down with all of
our heavier, bulkier items while the rest of the team thought they
would take it easy and fly down. |
 |
| Brian
lost his composure going through security in
Manchester. However, he was able to find it their designated
"Composure Area." |
 |
 |
| Much
to our surprise, a snowstorm blew into NH and made the flights down
to Gulfport much more difficult. We waited in Manchester for almost
two hours before we took off (see picture of ground crew scraping
snow and ice off wings by hand), with pretty much no hope of making
our connection. While waiting in Newark (see right) for a little
while, we were rerouted through Houston; this flight also left late
and left us little time to get to our connecting flight to Gulfport. |
 |
 |
| Meanwhile,
Rich and John made good progress and were able to see some of the
conditions that were a result of Hurricane Katrina. In this photo,
John is holding up a piece of tile that belonged to either the
Waffle House or the Chinese restaurant behind him, which no longer
exist short of their signs. |
 |
| This
was a church that is barely survived by its steel supports and roof. |
 |
| After
many hours in planes and airports (and a couple of lost pieces of
luggage), we arrived in Gulfport, ready to go to bed. |
